We love food. Love, love, LOVE it. More importantly, we love new food and new restaurants at WDW. We truly appreciae all of the culinary adventures that WDW provides us with and all of the updates and additions they are making to the many EPCOT restaurants. however, one thing that really gets our goats is the quick service restaurant at the American Adventure. The Liberty Tavern boasts a menu sponsored by McDonald's.
Ok, don't get me wrong, I enjoy a good burger and fries on occasion. But, once again, EPCOT is intended to represent cultures of the world. I doubt that Mickey D's is typical fare of American kitchens everywhere. If you look at other menus on premises, you know that Disney knows that McDonald's is not representative of American cuisine; however, they have not updated this restaurant in years. Ideally, we'd like to see one of two things happen with the American Adventure: 1- change the quick service fare to reflect some of the many diverse regions of the US; 2 - maintain the McDonald's quick service, but add a sit down restaurant that better represents our country's pallet.
Our top 10 main menu options are:
1. Corn Chowder
2. Pumpkin soup
3. Lobster po'boy
4. Jumbalaya (offered in both a chicken and vegetarian version)
5. Bison burger
6. Grilled Alaskan wild caught Salmon
7 Hawaiian roast pork with pineapple salsa
8. Chipotle chicken sandwich
9. BBQ pulled pork
10. Stir fry of seasonal vegetables with tofu
Our top 5 side options are:
1. Corn bread
2. Collard greens
3. Sweet potato fries
4. Hash
5. Fresh mango
In all fairness to the American Adventure (an attraction I always use for a nap), too much care and thought was put into the rest of the pavilion to just plop a McDonald's down next to it. Let's step it up, WDW, and get some good American food into that pavilion. Oh, and how about a flight tasting of America craft beers? I'd sign up for that!
What favorite American dish would you like to see at the American Adventure?
TTFN!
